Tea ceremony is also a management lesson

In the cold weather, Tzu Chi University Jie Ren Campus was empty. At 10:00 a.m., six or seven tea ceremony teachers and volunteers arrived at the classroom one after another. The first year students of International Service Industry Management Department arrived one after another to confirm the final examination process for the afternoon tea ceremony class in the tea ceremony classroom.

At the beginning of the tea party, all the students began to meditate, and then the students started to serve tea and explain to the teacher the design of their own tea table and tea post, and then a group served tea. The teacher then graded the students according to the table. Finally, the students came up to the stage in order to report their learning experience.

The other two classes are “International Etiquette and Humanistic Aesthetics” and ” Flower Arrangement”, from which students must take two courses, each with two credits. Out of the sixteen students in the first year class, seven males and three females, a total of ten students, took “Tea Ceremony”. These 18 and 19 year old students originally thought that making tea was a simple matter, but they did not expect that there were so many rules to make tea, and in the process they changed their habit of drinking hand shaken drinks. It turns out that drinking tea is more than just relieving your thirst; it is also about learning how to taste good tea.
