Tzu Chi University Appoints Service Quality Master Professor Kuo-Yao Su as Professional Advisor

The College of International and Interdisciplinary Studies of Tzu Chi University has appointed Prof. Kuo-Yao Su, the former General Manager of the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Professor of Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism, as a professional advisor (Professor) of the University.

Prof. Kuo-Yao Su is expected to be appointed as a professional advisor (Professor) of the University from August 1, 2021. Professor Su has accumulated 40 years of service experience in the hotel industry and has held important positions such as General Manager of Cosmo Hotel Taipei, Executive Vice President of Cosmo Management Consulting, General Manager of Taichung Yongfeng Hotel, and General Manager of Tainan Daejeon Hotel. Professor Su is the industry leader in service industry management, service quality, and marketing. He believes that he will be of great help in helping the university to match with domestic and foreign industries and increasing students’ industrial internship and industry-academia cooperation.

In the past year, Professor Su has given several lectures at Tzu Chi University and Tzu Chi Hospital, especially for the newly established Bachelor Program in International Service Industry Management. In his lectures, Professor Su shared his experiences from working and traveling around the world, building students’ independent thinking and appreciation skills, and exchanging ideas on sports, entertainment, and environmental protection.

In addition to foreign language skills, the program also emphasizes the professional skills of “human etiquette” and “media information” that are essential for service industry managers. In order to ensure the integration of learning and application, a one-year internship program is arranged in the senior year to provide graduates with a solid competitive edge for employment.
